The Syria Campaign - Aleppo!!!

Dear friends,

The past week has been bleak.

As besieged eastern Aleppo shares out the very last of its food and Russia gets ready to launch an all-out assault on the city, the US has chosen a new president who wants to partner up with Putin and by extension, Assad.

There’s little point sugar coating it: this will mean tougher times for Syria’s civilians.

As borders are tightened and more barbed wire rolled out, Bashar al-Assad will no doubt feel further emboldened to crush all dissent by force. That’ll mean more barrel bombs and chemical weapons on opposition areas, more mass starvation sieges, more disappearances and detention.

It may be tempting to despair and turn away, but we owe it to the rescue workers of the White Helmets, the medics under fire, and all of the ordinary families living under the bombs to do the exact opposite.

Our small office team at The Syria Campaign has decided to double down on our work and we’re expanding by three positions - a full-time Campaigner, a full-time Development Director, and a part-time Head of Finance and Operations. If you know of anyone in your networks who’d be brilliant for these positions please forward them this email. We need the best qualified people, bursting with passion, to power this work. Together we’ve managed some quite extraordinary things in the past, but we need to be bigger and even more effective in these tough times.

If you can’t think of who’d be a great fit for these posts, please consider donating directly to The Syria Campaign. To maintain our independence, we accept no money from governments, so rely on donations from individuals like you.

Thanks for all that you do,

James, Anna and the whole team at The Syria Campaign
